(I) TO UNDERTAKE INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT IN URBAN LOCAL BODIES TO FACILITATE HOLISTIC GROWTH OF URBAN AREAS TO BECOME ACTIVE GROWTH ENGINES OF THE ECONOMY
JnNURM
Government has taken proactive efforts to access funds under recently launched Government of India schemes i.e. Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM), Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme for Small and Medium Towns (UIDSSMT), Basic Services for Urban Poor (BSUP) and Integrated Housing and Slum Development Program (IHSDP). Special emphasis has been given on Water Supply and Sewerage, Integrated development of slums including housing, development of infrastructure projects, Solid Waste Management etc. under these schemes. Our state has so far been sanctioned 268 projects with an estimated cost of Rs.12,523.71 crores.
ANDHRA PRADESH MUNICIPAL DEVELOPMENT PROJECT (APMDP)
"APMDP Project" is being launched with an objective to improve the living conditions of the urban poor through sustainable development at a project cost of $ 359.1 million (Rs.1544.73 crores) in all the Municipalities and Municipal Corporations of A.P. with World Bank assistance.
(II) TO DEVELOP HYDERABAD AS FUTURISTIC METROPOLITAN CITY
Government established Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) to ensure planned growth and efficient implementation of civic and infrastructure facilities in Hyderabad agglomeration area.
Government is expediting the construction of Outer Ring Road with an estimated cost of Rs. 6000 crores, Elevated Expressway project with an estimated cost of Rs 600 cr. to connect new International Airport in Hyderabad and Hyderabad Metro Rail Project spanning over 71 kms on three high density traffic corridors with an estimated cost of Rs.12,132 crores in order to ease traffic congestion in Hyderabad city.
Hussain Sagar Lake and Catchment Area Improvement Project
Government has taken an ambitious project "Hussain Sagar Lake and Catchment Area Improvement Project" with an estimated cost of Rs. 310 crores for improvement of lake water quality and increasing the eco-tourism potentiality in Hyderabad city.
